In the lead up to the Isle of Man TT Races, Locate Isle of Man will be launching a TT marketing campaign which aims to encourage TT visitors to relocate to the Isle of Man.
Locate Isle of Man, a division of the Department for Enterprise, helps to identify and fill any current skills gaps by promoting the Island as an attractive place to live and work. A new initiative is being launched titled ‘It all starts with a visit’ which forms part of an ongoing major skills marketing campaign, and aims to attract workers from the UK and beyond to the Isle of Man.
As a part of the TT campaign, Locate Isle of Man will be taking an active role in the community throughout TT fortnight, with 31 ‘pop-up’ events planned across the Island. The Locate team, joined by volunteers from across government and industry sectors will be out talking to visitors at key local events such as Peel Day, Port Erin Day, and the Ramsey Sprint and will also be greeting visitors during peak times at venues such as Ronaldsway Airport, the Isle of Man Sea Terminal, the TT Grandstand, and several famous spectator spots located around the TT Course.
Locate Isle of Man has also developed a dedicated webpage which includes an online chat function so visitors, both during and after their holiday, can discuss career opportunities, the Isle of Man lifestyle and relocation with a member of the team.
Ann Corlett MHK, Political Member for Locate Isle of Man, commented:
The ‘It all starts with a visit’ campaign has been greeted with real enthusiasm and I’d like to say a big thank you to everyone that has agreed to take part. Communities from across the Isle of Man have really embraced the campaign message, it’s been a real team effort and I am looking forward to being involved.
‘In addition to the ‘pop ups’, webpage and advertising around the Isle of Man including the airport and sea terminal. Locate have partners with local businesses with ‘Let’s Chat’ beer mats distributed across over 38 public houses, hotels and cafes including 1886, the Heron and Brearley public inns, Foraging Vintners and the Fynoderee Bar and Distillery in Ramsey.
In addition to ‘Let’s Chat’ Locate Isle of Man cards will be distributed to visitors at our ‘pop up’ locations and a range of hospitality establishments across the Island. TT Homestay hosts are also getting involved and have been provided with literature to help them appreciate the Island’s current need for skills, and to encourage them to direct visitors to the Locate Isle of Man team.
‘An Island-wide call-out for TT relocation stories saw a wave of new residents come forward to share their experiences with us and these wonderful stories will be used as part of the overarching marketing campaign’
Locate will be joined by a host of representatives from across Government, industry sectors and members of the community and by the Treasury Minister Dr Alex Allinson MHK and the Lieutenant Governor.
Locate are also asking volunteers to come forward to help to spread the Isle of Man message this TT. If you are outgoing, enjoy meeting new people and would like to become a Locate Isle of Man ambassador for a couple of hours during TT, please contact the team at: locate.dfe@gov.im
Dr Alex Allinson MHK, commented:
‘As we look to welcome back thousands of visitors to the Island we have a great opportunity to tell them all about the benefits of living and working in the Isle of Man. The Locate Isle of Man team will be discussing the breadth of job opportunities available across our many diverse sectors, in addition to the wonderful lifestyle the Isle of Man affords its residents.
‘I’m sure the last couple of years will have changed many people’s perspective towards relocation and lifestyle, and I am very much looking forward to joining the Locate team at these events across the TT period.’
Any visitors interested in relocating should visit locate.im/tt.
